The organization was formed in 1999 as Herwa Community Development Initiative in response to maternal mortality, the low and pervasive literacy level, rising HIV prevalence, Malaria, tuberculosis, and widespread poverty. The Goal of the Organization is to contribute to easily accessible gender friendly Health outcomes, literacy and Peaceful coexistence in Northeast Nigeria and the country at large.
